Independent studio · Computational R&D and design

Better computation, designed for people.

ARITHMONOIA is a small studio for computational research and design. We look for a faster or more exact way to compute what you need. Then we turn it into software, pictures or video that people can use.

Operated by Akari Hayami, who works with a group of AI agents.

Services

Two kinds of work, often in one project.

You tell us what you want to achieve. We suggest how to compute it and how to show it, and then we build both.

01

Computational R&D

Algorithms and exact computation

We speed up numerical code and write exact or symbolic computations. We also write checkers that confirm a result on their own. We take speed-up work only when it has a clear measure, such as a benchmark or a test set.

Efficient machine-learning models

We design and run experiments on models that cost less to compute. We also reproduce published results and plan ablation studies, which remove one part at a time to show what each part does.

Interactive visualisation

We build interactive figures and teaching tools that run in the browser, with canvas, WebGL and three.js.

Software and tooling

We clean up code without changing what it does, and we add tests, linting and continuous integration. We also set up development environments and MCP servers, and help teams start using Claude Code or Codex.

02

Design

Motion

Short explainer and product videos that are rendered in code. One project can be delivered in several aspect ratios, with captions in English, Japanese or Simplified Chinese.

Data stories

We turn reports and benchmarks into animated figures. Before handover, a test recomputes every number that appears on screen.

Design systems

Design tokens, style guides and templates for posts, slides and covers. All of them are generated from one source file, so they stay consistent.

Web

Landing pages, portfolio sites and pages for research or software projects, like the page you are reading.

What we do not take on: live-action filming, and work that needs licensed music or copies another brand. We also decline work that impersonates a real person, does someone's homework or exam, or involves adult or gambling content.

How we work

Checked before it reaches you.

The same four steps apply to a small fix and to a larger project. Only the depth of each step changes.

  1. 01Brief

We agree on the goal, on what we will deliver and on how we will check it.

  2. 02Build

We show a first version early, so that you can react to something real.

  3. 03Check

A second AI model reviews the code and the text. Then Akari reviews the result. Work that fails a check does not go out.

  4. 04Hand over

You receive the files, a README, the known limits and a short note on how AI was used.

Public work

Open projects that show the kind of work we do.

These projects are published on Akari Hayami's GitHub account and on npm. A page for motion and design work is in preparation.

  • ArithScope

A research project on arithmetic attention for Transformers, with theorems, experiments and control runs.

  • Algebraic constraint compiler

A compiler for exact algebra with an independent verifier. It has a live demo and an MCP server.

  • Calabi–Yau visualizer

An interactive renderer for a self-similar Calabi–Yau system. It runs entirely in the browser.

  • taste-packet

An entry to the WebMCP Challenge. Its SDK is published on npm as xtaste-client-sdk.

  • mcp-apps-preview

A tool that previews and checks MCP Apps from any MCP server, with no build step.

About

A small studio, run by one person and a group of AI agents.

ARITHMONOIA is an independent studio operated by Akari Hayami. Akari works with several AI agents. The agents draft, build and check the work. Akari directs each project and approves each delivery.

The studio is new. We do not list clients yet, and we only show work that we can point to.

The name joins two Greek words: arithmos, which means “number”, and ‑noia, which means “thought”, as in dianoia. The mark follows one rule: every edge is horizontal or slanted at 66°. This page uses the same rule.
